Welcome to New Awakening Church!

So glad you’re here… just as you are.

We don’t pretend to be perfect. We don’t pretend to have all of the answers. But we can commit to this: our desire is to bless God’s heart with our lives. We come together to worship the only one who deserves it all… Jesus.  Join us!

A Message from Our Pastor

Dear Guest,

Sometimes we just need something new. It’s part of being human. But it must be part of being God, too. After all, the Bible is full of moments of newness. Jesus talks about looking ahead, not behind! And when we do that, something awakens in us that we never forget: there’s an experience of love and power and vision that changes everything. Our hope is to share that new awakening with the world. Wondering what that means exactly? I’d love to talk. Need some newness in your own life? I’d love to pray.

God bless you,
Rimi

Sunday Service

We would love to see you. Just come as you are. The church currently meets at the Schuylkill Racquet Club & Fitness Center every Sunday at 10:00 AM; it’s a casual environment. Come experience a time of heartfelt worship and prayer, followed by honest, Spirit-led messages. Kids’ Church and nursery are also available after worship so that your little ones can learn about God and meet new friends. For those who are willing or able to stay, there is always fellowship following the service. This is a time to be there for each other, have a few laughs, and eat some cookies.

ABOUT

Our Story

It happened like so many things do: unexpectedly. Amid the pandemic of 2020, a time that made sense to no one, God made it clear to that it was time to open a church. We rented some chairs, hooked up some cables, and just kept praying. New Awakening Church began as a whisper from the Spirit to preach spiritual renewal. The vision was to create a space in which people could experience a reawakening: tangibly encountering God’s love for them, realizing His purpose for their lives, and delighting in who they were created to be. In short, it would be a place of love, truth, and new beginnings. Our prayer is that the vision will extend beyond the church, reach the community, and result in God pouring out His Spirit and kindling another great awakening in our nation and our world. We’re believing that God is on the move, and He’s doing something new.

Meet the Pastor

Though he was born and raised a Muslim and later became an atheist, Rimi encountered Jesus in a radical, supernatural way. He first responded to God’s call to ministry in 2008 and has since worked in several churches and served as a missionary both in America and overseas. In the fall of 2020, amid the turmoil and uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic, God made it clear that He wanted Rimi to open a church. It all started in the backyard. He considers it his greatest privilege to watch God do what God does and to witness His love and power change lives. Rimi holds an MA from the University of the Nations, an MDiv from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a PhD from the University of Birmingham (UK). He also published a book on the work of the Holy Spirit in the Second Great Awakening, entitled The Supernatural and the Circuit Riders: The Rise of Early American Methodism. When he’s not ministering to the community or teaching classes at Alvernia University, he spends most of his free time going on small adventures with his family and friends while attempting to be serious.

What We Believe

God’s Word

We believe that the Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God. In its original writing, it is inspired, infallible and inerrant. In other words, it is truth, and that truth sets us free (Mat. 4:4; John 1:1, 17:17; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12-13).

Salvation for All

We believe that Jesus died and rose for everyone. EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. No exceptions. His desire is for all to believe and come to Him, and through the wonder of His grace, that becomes possible. The love of Jesus is unequal to anything else on earth (Luke 24:46-47; 1 Tim. 2:4; Titus 2:11; 1 John 4:10).

Acts of the Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God living within us and doing life with us every day. He gives us each supernatural gifts meant to be used for His glory and to bring hope and wonder to a world in great need of His presence (Acts 1:8; Rom. 12:6-8; 1 Cor. 12; 2 Cor. 1:21-22, 13:14; Eph. 4:10-13).

Becoming New

When God awakens us, we are forever changed. And the closer we get to God, the more we want to be like Him – our Father. Prayer is what allows us to draw close to Him and have a relationship with Him. Prayer is incredibly powerful, and it transforms lives (John 3:1-21, 5:17; Rom. 12:2; Eph. 2:5-6, 6:18; Phil. 4:6; Col. 2:13).

Beyond the Walls

We believe that Christians – as children of God – are called to be the light of the world. But Jesus challenges us by asking what good that light is if it remains hidden. We have a deep desire to spread the Gospel by reaching out beyond church walls (Mat. 28:19–20; Rom. 8:14, 10:14–15; Gal. 3:26, 4:7).

VISIT

Location

We meet in a gym. Yup, a gym. It’s actually pretty awesome. Jesus brought light to the people by living and ministering among them. We want to do the same. So, when we say that we want to meet you where you’re at… we really mean it. That being said, we do have our own space in the gym. It’s a place where we can worship, raise our hands, and call out to the Lord together as a church family. Everyone is welcome to join us.

Dress Code

We like to keep things casual. Putting on your finest to spend some time with God is something we have a lot of respect for, though. Please do what makes you feel most comfortable. We’ve all been made differently for a reason.

Service

The service begins with collectively worshiping the Lord through contemporary-style praise music, followed by a brief time of prayer. The children then make their way to their own exciting church service: ARISE. The service concludes with a practical, relatable, and biblical message. Then it’s time for coffee.

Fellowship

Following the tradition of the early church, there is always fellowship. We believe that the church is meant to be a family, so praying for each other and spending time together (while snacking, of course) is a vital part of our growth process. And it just makes life that much more enjoyable.

Kids

Jesus emphasized the importance of children in the church. We do, too. Every Sunday, both Kids' Church and nursery are provided. This gives the parents time to draw close to the Lord with minimal distractions, but more importantly, it gives the kids an opportunity to experience God for themselves. Understanding who God is and why He is so important in our lives is truth that even a child can cherish. We want your children to have a great time, but we also want them to know how much Jesus loves them.

Groups and Gatherings

If you’re looking to make some further connections, both with God and with your brothers and sisters in Christ, then we've got something for you (and your kids). We have Bible studies, prayer group, a men's fellowship, a women's fellowship, a youth group, and even a fellowship for moms and school-aged children (which includes a gym class)! We have year-round events, free of charge, with fun activities such as mini golf, roller skating, bowling, church picnics, movie nights, hayrides and corn mazes, ball and trampoline parks, and so much more. Christmas and Easter are celebrated with a nativity pageant and egg hunt. There's really something for everyone.
